Boring?

Do you find your self sitting in class BORED?! That happens. Here are some ways to keep your self interested during class.

Make sure your listening! Because if you are not, and you are just day dreaming, thats most likely WHY!
If you ARE paying attention then you might want to ask your teacher if you can do more hands on science? Or fun math games?
Make sure you have a great night sleep, that will help. Do not fiddle with a paperclip, etc..... this will prevent you from learning what you need to know!
Sometimes this class needs to learn this one unit but after that unit it will be fun! Just stick with it. But if you find that you cannot take our advice and you are still really bored, you might want to talk to your parents. Hope you wont get bored!

Standing out in your Teacher's eyes

The first step to getting your teacher to really know who you are is doing your homework and turning it in on time.  Put lots of effort into your homework, don't rush, and don't be afraid to ask your parents or call a friend to help.  But make sure you know where it is, what it's asking, and turn it in on time.  To help you get 100% on your homework you can pay attention in class and really participate.  Teachers love kids who are always raising their hand and ready to answer a question correctly!  And if you need help with something just go ask her/him.  It shows that you really want to learn and are trying hard.  Study very hard for tests and do your best.  Help out some other kids who need it, but don't spend so much time helping them to where it gets to the point of when you don't have enough time to do your own work.  Be nice and include everyone in what you do.  It's fine to talk to your friends but not too much.  Just make sure that you're always ready and prepared with all of your supplies.
See you later Star Student,
C.D.

Getting Ready for School

To help you be on time for school you can get all of your stuff ready for the next day the night before.  You can pack your lunch and put it in the fridge, you can lay all of your clothes to wear at the bottom of your bed or on a chair.  But when you lay out your clothes make sure that you lay out everything from socks to hair accessories so you'll definitely be ready.  As soon as you finish your homework make sure that you put it right back in your backpack so you know where it is and aren't running around all morning trying to find it.  Put a coat or umbrella by the door if you need it so you can quickly grab it and leave.  The last thing that you need to do involves breakfast.  You'll need a very energizing meal to start your day.  So make sure that you know where all of your ingredients are.  If you plan to have cereal than you can get out a spoon, bowl, and the cereal box and put it on you kitchen counter.  However if you want to have waffles or pancakes than just make sure that they're in an easy place to grab in the freezer.
Be on time for our next update!

Test Tips

Here are a few test tips that you might find helpful!

Step 1 If your teacher gives you a study guide a week ahead of the test or quiz don't think that you can study the day before and be ready! Study for at LEAST 10 Min. each night.

Step 2 When your studying you might want to write everything on Flash cards. Ask a friend or a parent to quiz you. When ever you get a question wrong just make a note to go back to that question once all the other questions are over. Keep doing that in till you get the answer right!

Step 3 Make sure you get a good nights sleep the night before the test/quiz. Go to bed maybe 10 min before your usual bed time. Once you wake up ask your parents to help you make a good healthy
breakfast. You might want to try eggs or yogurt with granola!

Step 4 Ask your parents to bring you to school early (If not thats okay) so you can study at school and if you have any last minute questions you can ask the teacher! Before the test Calm your self down, theres no need to be all stressed out because you studied!

Good luck! Hope this came in handy!
                         Your friends,
                                  Camille and Cayla (C.D.)

Being On Time

It's also very important to be on time when you get to school.  If you get there extra early then that gives you some extra time to maybe finish up last night's homework, talk to your friends, do what the teacher asks and unpack.  Sometimes if you get to school earlier than most students then the teacher might ask you to do her/him a favor which means that you're becoming closer to your teacher!  ;)  Not only should you be on time in the morning, but also at night. What I mean by this is when you go to bed.  You should go to bed between 8:30 and 9:30 depending on what time your school starts.  You should also make sure that you get plenty of sleep so you're not asleep during class.
So stay awake and keep following our blog,
C.D.

Keeping Organized

Now, you probably are already organized but here are a couple more tips.  Teachers love organized students who stay on track and work hard in class, so to help be prepared, keep spare paper in your binder to take notes.  But make sure you take neat notes that you can read to help you later!  Also put labeled tabs in your binder so you know where to put all of your homework right away.  For your backpack try to empty it  out every quarter but make sure you don't throw ANY papers away, just put them in a little cabinet.  Once you're done unpacking when you get to class, put all of your stuff in the right upper corner of your desk in a neat pile.  Get out what you need and put it back in the right place once you're done using it. Push you chair in if you are going to recess etc. This way you'll always know where everything is and be ready to get it when you need it. Good Luck!

How to survive 5th grade!

Hello 5th graders and up!

We have come to you and tell you one of the most non frequent asked questions ever! HOW TO SURVIVE 5TH GRADE!!!!!!!!! First of all you need to make a great impression when you first walk in that door! Smiles and say hello to the teacher, look at your seating and quickly unpack. Do NOT, what so ever act annoying! You might be thinking right now *I'm not annoying I'm a model student!* think deeply. Okay. Now that we have that settled you need to have all of your supplies with you and have them neat and organized! (See later for more about neatness) You will most likely have a morning meeting to get to know everybody. After that, you start class. Probably  everyone lost there memory over the summer but YOUR prepared for that! (Hopefully) ask your mom or your dad to sign you up for a week of math camp... it might sound boring but it will definitely boost you UP! Once the teacher sees that your smart, nice, and neat she will (most likely) LOVE YOU! From that point on you are a teachers pet! For more info on HOW TO SURVIVE 5TH GRADE stay tuned!
